ADELAIDE RECORDING STUDIOS
Adelaide
Recording Studios is an industry standard ITB Project Studio
hand-built in 2007 by, Record Producer & Audio Engineer,
Darren Mullan. The studio was designed to cater to the specific
needs of Darren Mullan's clientele and accordingly is solely used by
Darren. The following functions can be carried out at Adelaide
Recording Studios:
The studio is however deliberately NOT setup to record drums
or ensembles. Should a project need drums to be recorded or
should a project require ensemble recording (e.g. a band
recording the bed tracks), Darren will need to utilise an
external studio
for that particular part of the project. Theory Behind
The Studio Model
For years Darren has been operating out of 3rd-party
premium recording studios where the studio has typically
invested in the likes of a million dollar mixing console, every
different type and brand of microphone on the planet as well as
every random gizmo and gadget that has ever existed in terms of
the outboard gear. Accordingly, in order for the studio to
generate a reasonable return on investment, the client session
fees are priced at a point that is arguably through the roof and
quite often found to be unaffordable. Furthermore, Darren has
discovered over the years that when it comes to conducting a
recording project, the majority of the studio time is spent on
recording vocals, overdubbing, editing and mixing; time spent on
recording drums and ensembles is much less comparatively.
Ironically though, the most expensive investment for a recording
studio is the cost of fitting out a live room as well as
purchasing all of the equipment in order to have the ability to
record drums and ensembles. Studios tend to charge on a flat
rate basis and what this imposes upon the client is an expensive
session fee, in order for the studio to generate a reasonable
return on investment, despite the fact that the client in
practice probably isn't obtaining a great deal of value in terms
actually utilising the studio's most expensive resources but
rather is in a sense just unnecessarily paying for right of
access.
In building Adelaide Recording Studios, Darren has created a
solution to the above mentioned dilemma by structuring a business model in a way that sees costs are lowered immensely by
sticking the absolute fundamentals yet superior quality of
equipment investments. Ultimately, this ensures that the end product
is completely uncompromised and so the only real difference is that you, as the
client, save a great deal of money!
